Guatemala Day 3

Hope everyone is doing well.  Today is day three for me in Guatemala.  I arrived on Saturday after a long day of travel.  I arrive to the airport at 9 in the morning for a 11:30 flight.  Got on the plane and waited an hour on the plane before we had to get off due to mechanical problems.  Glad they spotted it before we took off.  Waited another hour before loading on to another plane and flying taking off.  Two and a half hours later I was in Gautemala City.  I will be here for about 6 weeks.  My purpose it to help a friend of mine who is a pastor to train other pastors and leaders for him.  I will be spending time with a group of teenagers who are already expressing a desire to serve God.  I will disciple them to continue in their calling.  I am also working with a few men who are in the process of being Pastors and getting ready to take action by starting a church.  I am staying right now with one of the Young Pastors at his home.  His family has been so great to me.  It is amazing to hear how they have left their good jobs here in Guatemal to follow the calling of the gospel.  These people do not have muchin the first place, but they are willing to give it up any ways to follow HIM.

i went to church yesturday and enjoyed my time there.  It was awesome to worship with them and see how they don’t need A/C, soft pews, an awesome band, lights and sound to worhsip.  They come hungry to worship together as a family in Christ.  Lots of Fellowship is the main priority here, again they don’t have much, but what matters is that they have each other.  I wish we in our churches in America would focus more on fellowship and walking this jouney with Christ together, than about how the church looks physicly, such as the building.  It’s about growing closer together so we can be stronger for Christ together.

I just finished reading “Radical” by David Platt and recommend that everyone read.  It should change your heart and the way you live if you claim to be a Christian.  I am also reading “Crazy Love” again by Francis Chan, another great book to read.

Pray for God to do a work amongs my brothers and sisters here in Guatemala.

Blessings,

Tim
