Guatemala Day 7

Today has been pretty good so far.  I started off the day at 7am running and playing basketball.  I must exercise because the way they are feeding me here I am gonna get even bigger.  Most of the day I have just been sitting here in the office with some of the pastors who are in training, Just talking about God and learning from the Word.  At the church, they have a cooking class so I was able to go and test their food for them.  Lots of Guatemala food and desserts.  Tonight I am gonna hang out with the Pastor and His family.  This week I have been staying with one of the Pastors in Training with his family.  They have been super awesome to me.

God is really using this church..Iglesia Biblical de Lamas Norte.  They are really having an impact on their community.  Sad to say, but they are doing alot more than many of the churches in US.  One thing the Lord has been teaching me the last couple of months and through this church, is it is not how much you have or give, God just wants your OBEDIENCE and Faithfulness.  God is using this church because they are willing to trust him with the things they have, and God is rewarding them.   They do not have the top notch programs, events, or facilities, they have the Holy Spirit and that is enough for them.  People over here do not have much, but they a content with the Lord.

Are you giving your leftovers to God or are you giving Him everything.

Blessings,

Tim

Guatemala Day 5

Well, yesterday I the opportunity to go take some food to some families who are in some harsh living conditions.  I am blessed for what God has given me, but what brings me to tears is that these families consider them selves to blessed too, even though they do not have much.  One of the assistant pastors, Teddy and Ramiro who is in training to be a pastor and I went out to this part of town to deliver these boxes of food.  We had the opportunity to share the Gospel and tell that Jesus does love them and cares for them deeply.  Pray for these families that God would reach out to them.  Pray that God might even use you to do that.  Opportunities are endless here.

Today I went to a school and played with the kids during recreation time.  These schools might have 10% of the things that we have inour school in the US.  Daniel Zellner and his family move to Guatemala about 6 years ago from the US to work in these schools.  It is awesome to see the passion they have for serving the Lord.  They are helping with English and lots of the other basics such as reading, writing, and math.  My prayer for these kids at the schools is that God would allow them to get an education that can lead them to a better life.  All of these kids did not choose to be in this situation.  sometime we take it for granted living in the US.  I had nothing to do with being born in the US, it was just by God’s grace.  The purpose that he put me in the US was so I can give up of myself and reach out to people all over the world, becasue they are worhty of God’s glory.

Thank you for your prayers, God is doing great things.

Guatemala Day 3

Hope everyone is doing well.  Today is day three for me in Guatemala.  I arrived on Saturday after a long day of travel.  I arrive to the airport at 9 in the morning for a 11:30 flight.  Got on the plane and waited an hour on the plane before we had to get off due to mechanical problems.  Glad they spotted it before we took off.  Waited another hour before loading on to another plane and flying taking off.  Two and a half hours later I was in Gautemala City.  I will be here for about 6 weeks.  My purpose it to help a friend of mine who is a pastor to train other pastors and leaders for him.  I will be spending time with a group of teenagers who are already expressing a desire to serve God.  I will disciple them to continue in their calling.  I am also working with a few men who are in the process of being Pastors and getting ready to take action by starting a church.  I am staying right now with one of the Young Pastors at his home.  His family has been so great to me.  It is amazing to hear how they have left their good jobs here in Guatemal to follow the calling of the gospel.  These people do not have muchin the first place, but they are willing to give it up any ways to follow HIM.

i went to church yesturday and enjoyed my time there.  It was awesome to worship with them and see how they don’t need A/C, soft pews, an awesome band, lights and sound to worhsip.  They come hungry to worship together as a family in Christ.  Lots of Fellowship is the main priority here, again they don’t have much, but what matters is that they have each other.  I wish we in our churches in America would focus more on fellowship and walking this jouney with Christ together, than about how the church looks physicly, such as the building.  It’s about growing closer together so we can be stronger for Christ together.

I just finished reading “Radical” by David Platt and recommend that everyone read.  It should change your heart and the way you live if you claim to be a Christian.  I am also reading “Crazy Love” again by Francis Chan, another great book to read.

Pray for God to do a work amongs my brothers and sisters here in Guatemala.

Blessings,

Tim

“RADICAL”

I just finished my copy of “Radical” from David Platt.  WOW..is all I can say.  Jesus has called us to live a Radical life for Him and the problems that is the only way he meant it to be.  Our churches here in America have bought into the America Dream and we as believers are chasing after that dream, when the reality is Jesus calls us to a different life style.  I challenge you to pick up a copy of this book and allow the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to what Jesus commands from us.  We are called, that is everyone who calls Jesus, Lord and Savior to go into ALL THE WORLD AND MAKE DISCIPLES.  It is our duty to go over seas and feed the children in poverty, help the poor and give our lives so other may hear the name of Jesus and given a chance to call on HIM for salvation.  God is doing great things all around the world, join in and do what He has commanded us to do.  Get your hands on a copy of this book and get one for a friend or two.

Youth Week @ Alto Frio

Last week I had the honor to be at Youth Week @ Alto Frio in Leakey, TX.  This is a camp that I help with through the SBTC.  Can I just say that it was a powerful week.  Students heard the Gospel and many surrendered to follow Christ.  It is sad to see where many our youth come from, broken homes, drugs, alcohol, abuse and the list goes on.  Mike Keahbone from Oklahoma was a speaker for the week and the Lord used him to communicate the Gospel to use and many curses and chaines were broken.  Circlslide, a band from Nashville, led us in worship for the week, and what an awesome job they did.  God moved in a powerful way at camp.  I pray for each student as they continue this journy of following and being like Christ.  Never give up on a youth, Jesus is able to save all.

I also had the honor of hanging out at the In Triumph house.  The In Triumph house is a home where my friend Pete Orta and his family allow homeless/trouble teenagers or single adults to come live in their home as they share the love of Christ to them.  It is awesome to see God at work in that place.  Jesus demands a radical life to follow HIM.

God is awesome and serving HIM is an honor to do so.

Serve Him faithfully…
